ASA Alumni Diary: Chloe – “NEVER take an 8 AM class again!”
Tuesday, October 11, 2016
Note to Self: Never take an 8 AM again. You thought you would be able to wake up easily, but you were wrong.
Required classes for dance majors that do not involve dance are terrible. Aesthetics to Theater is possibly one of the worst classes ever. It also becomes worse when it is at 8 am. Theater kids like to argue and that is not the best way to start the morning. After class, I went to the Founder’s café in the library to start working on my English paper. After that I headed to my 11 am ballet class.
Class wasn’t very different from any other day. I’m already sore and its only Tuesday. However, I think my body is slowly starting to adjust to having ballet five days a week. Also, we worked on brisés which I’m not too fond of. Later, I had the hardest Horton class I’ve ever taken. We worked on fortification #10 which consists of diving onto your stomach and rolling over your knees. I definitely should’ve brought knee pads.
After Modern, I went back to the dorm to work on homework and have a snack before rehearsal. Luckily, rehearsal was only an hour tonight. However, we had to clean the dance which isn’t much fun and makes the rehearsals about 10 times more tiring. After that, I wrote down the choreography and corrections to make sure I remember it which is something I started doing at ASA. It really makes it easier to review the notes before practice, so you at least remember what you’re doing.
Hopefully, I can finish all my homework and go to bed at a decent time, so I can wake up for my 9 am tomorrow without needing three cups of coffee…
