Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using ones shoes, as well as the floor, as a percussive instrument. Tap classes are high energy with a focus on technical elements, rhythm, choreography, stylistic differences, and dynamics. Tap dance can also be improvisational or musical theater based.
Pre-Ballet/Tap I & II (Ages 4-6) An introduction to ballet and tap for students of ages 4-6. Dancers learn basic ballet and tap terminology and classroom etiquette. Memory, body awareness, and rhythm are the focus of this class, by way of games and basic ballet and tap combinations. The class is broken into 20 minutes of ballet and 20 minutes of tap with a short break to change shoes.
Students should expect to spend a minimum of 2 years in each level.
Proper Tap attire required: Form fitting shorts or pants, leotard or form fitting shirt, hair secured away from face, tap shoes.
