Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using ones shoes, as well as the floor, as a percussive instrument. Tap classes are high energy with a focus on technical elements, rhythm, choreography, stylistic differences, and dynamics. Tap dance can also be improvisational or musical theater based.
Jr. Tap (Ages 4-6) An introduction to tap for students of ages 4-6. Dancers learn basic tap terminology and classroom etiquette. Memory, body awareness, and rhythm are the focus of this class, by way of games and tap combinations.
Students should expect to spend a minimum of 2 years in each level.
Proper Tap attire required: Form fitting shorts or pants, leotard or form fitting shirt, hair secured away from face, tap shoes.
